Homemade Blueberry Kefir

Ingredients

2 tablespoons of milk kefir grains
2 cups of milk (whole milk’s recommended)
1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
1/4 cup granulated sugar or preferred sweetener

Instructions

  1. For kefir, place 2 tablespoons of milk grains in a clean Mason jar and fill it with 2 cups of milk.
  2. Cover the jar with a plastic lid to allow space for fermentation process without sealing it.
  3. Allow the jar to sit at room temperature ( 68 85°F) for 24-48 hours based on your preference for thickness and tartness of the kefir. Longer fermentation results in a more tangy consistency.
  4. Once your kefir has reached the consistency you like, strain out the grains using an stainless steel strainer. You can keep the grains for your batch of kefir.
  5. In a blender, mix the kefir with 1 cup of frozen blueberries and 1/4 cup of your favorite sweetener.
  6. Blend for under a minute until everything is well mixed.
  7. Pour the blueberry kefir into glasses or a pitcher.
  8. Serve it. Savor the taste!
